A permanent resident
You and everyone included in the application must be a permanent resident.
An eligible New Zealand citizen
You may be an eligible New Zealand citizen if you arrived in Australia and presented a valid New Zealand passport and completed Incoming Passenger Card and were:
- in Australia on 26 February 2001 as a Special Category visa (444) holder, or
- outside Australia on 26 February 2001, but in the 2 years before that date you were in Australia as a Special Category visa (subclass 444) holder for at least a year; or
- holding a Centrelink certificate issued before 26 February 2004 that states you were living here at a particular time.
Unless we granted you another type of visa, we automatically granted you a temporary Special Category visa (subclass 444) when you presented your valid New Zealand passport and completed Incoming Passenger Card at the Australian border. An SCV is not a permanent residence visa.
