Permanent Partner Visa (Onshore) Subclass 801

This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. It is usually only for people who currently hold a Temporary Partner Visa (subclass 820).

Sponsor

  • You must continue to be the spouse or de facto partner who sponsored the applicant for the temporary partner visa.
  • The Department must approve the sponsorship. Your sponsorship is valid for 2 years after your spouse/partner is granted this temporary Partner visa (subclass 820), and you must commit to supporting the visa holder and any dependent children under this visa for accommodation and financial assistance. This is the case even if they are granted their permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) immediately after they are granted the temporary Partner visa.
